The International Federation of Human Rights (FIDH) has organized its 43rd
congress in Morocco, in Casablanca. During the plenary session reserved
for recommendations, and at the moment of the presentation of the recommendation
relative to the appeal by the congress regarding conditional guarantees
that would benefit Tamazight and facilitate the integration of the above-mentioned
in education, media, administration and justice, M. Abderrahman Ben Amer,
President of the AMDH (Moroccan Association for Human Rights), spoke out
against this recommendation and pleaded that it not be ratified. Despite
this intrusion, the recommendation was accepted by the unanimous vote
of the representatives of the 160 NGO (Non-government organizations),
coming from all four corners of the world, and present at the congress.
Tamazight has thus benefited from a symbolic tribute, and the FIDH has
recognised the exclusion and marginalization to which Tamazight has been
a victim on a national scale and throughout Tamazgha.
We, subscribers to this petition, express our indignation
and denunciation of the position of the President of the AMDH.
We believe this is nothing more than the continuation of political
alienation, both governmental and Makhzanian, toward the vindication
of associations with Amazigh, notably, those related to the constitutionalization
of the Amazigh language, largely defended by democratic Amazigh
organizations.
We declare that the above-mentioned position is dangerous
to the principles, beliefs and texts related to Human Rights,
which the President of the AMDH is wont to uphold and respect.
We would appeal to all democrats to denounce this act of
indignation and to take adequate steps toward the protection of
Amazigh rights against further acts of the same nature.
